VERONICA SPICATA 'ULSTER BLUE DWARF'

The minute I saw this compact little beauty, Veronica spicata 'Ulster Blue Dwarf', I had to have it for my garden border.  It has such a strong purple-blue colour that it's a real eye catcher and, to top it all, it's attractive to butterflies and bees.  It forms a neat clump of dark green foliage with upright flower spikes.  It can be grown in a pot.

The label says that it is a form of speedwell.  It grows in any good, well-drained soil in full sun or part shade and achieves a size of 30-45cm (12-18in).
