When I was in the Alpine House at the Royal Horticultural Society gardens at Harlow Carr in March, I took this photograph of a really lovely alpine: Saxifraga Megaseiflora Vladana. You can see how the size of the flowers dwarfs the leaves when it is in full bloom. You can also see that it is grown in a terracotta pot with gravel around its base. The medium which it is grown in will be gritty. It reminds me of photograph of
Saxifraga Touran Large White which I posted earlier today. It's interesting that although they belong to the same family, their growing requirements are quite different.
