MRS SINKINS - A WHITE PINK

Mrs Sinkins is a white 'pink'; pink being another name for dianthus.  It grows in my garden so beautifully in a dryish area at the top of the slope and is doing far better than before it was transplanted from another more moist area of the border.  By transplanted I mean dragged out of the earth and more or less just dropped onto the ground elsewhere, then some soil pushed over its roots.  Such rough treatment and Mrs Sinkins just came bouncing back.  Since then I've ripped pieces off the main plant and transplanted them in similar fashion and the pieces have taken and flowered.  It's quite ironic when you think how we gardeners can nurture some flowers and they give little thanks or reward for our efforts.  This is a macro photograph that I took of one of the flowers today.
